Rushton Aust

Rushton Aust is a textile artist who has, over a decade made large printed and painted works; they take the form of ribbon-like, free-hanging structures, or wall panels. Experienced in architectural commissions, Aust has recently completed a 30-feet-long hanging for a stairwell in St Stephen’s Hospital, Norwich, n which he collaborated with children (patients and relatives) on imagery used in the design. Aust finds working with young people an important stimulus, and is also a part-time lecturer at Goldsmith’s college, University of London. He regularly works for exhibitions, however, in order to develop textile ideas which will eventually appear in site-specific works.
