6 – 23 September 2017
To coincide with this year’s London Design Festival, we are presenting a special showcase of Architectural Jewellery by CAA maker members.
On display will be bold constructed, modernist and architecturally-inspired jewellery ranging from geometric pieces made from ethically sourced gold and silver by Ute Decker, brooches depicting some of the world’s most famous landmarks of 20th and 21st century architecture – such as the Shard and the Guggenheim museums – by Vicki Ambery-Smith and a whole new body of work by Josef Koppmann.
Jeweller Tania Clarke Hall, who works in leather, will be creating a stunning window display specially for this show and visitors will also be able to take a closer look at her cutting techniques at a demonstration. The exhibition will also be part of the recently established Bankside Design District.
Exhibiting makers include: Vicki Ambery-Smith, Stacey Bentley, Flora Bhattachary, Michael Carberry, Tania Clarke Hall, Ute Decker, Joel Degen, Anne Finlay, Mara Irsara, Josef Koppmann, Daphne Krinos, Susan May, David Poston, Wendy Ramshaw, Joanne Thompson and David Watkins.
Special Event: Wednesday, 20 September, 5.30-7.30pm
Late night opening, Meet the Makers
Please join us for a special late night opening in the gallery as part of the recently established Bankside Design District, of which CAA is a founding member. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the exhibition and meet some of the makers. Light refreshments will be served.
Special Event: Saturday, 23 September, 3pm
Tania Clarke Hall jewellery demonstration
Tania Clarke Hall will demonstrate the hand cutting and moulding techniques which she uses to transform strips of leather into twists and ‘out of line’ necklaces. She will cut, mould and intertwine ready coloured strips to create her forms. She will not be making a finished piece, but the demonstration will give people a good insight into a few of her techniques and how she works.
