Katie Walker

Katie Walker’s approach of combining sculpture with practical furniture design has resulted in a diverse range of work –  from small pieces of domestic furniture, through one-off commercial commissions to art based sculptural pieces.

Walker set up practice in 1994 – a natural step taken to complete commissions gained as the result of her final show at the Royal College of Art the previous year. Collaborations with other workshops has bought with it the opportunity to work with a number of retailers, including Benchmark furniture, Heals and John Lewis. In 2012 Walker was awarded a place on Crafted, the Walpole developed mentorship programme.

Many of Walker’s designs have been recognised with awards and can be found in public galleries and private collections worldwide. In 2013 Katie won the commission to design and produce a high chair for HRH Price George which was presented to HRH the Duchess of Cambridge by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.
