Hugh Dunford Wood

From his Dorset studio, Hugh Dunford Wood produces fine wallpaper printed by hand from original lino blocks designed and cut by hand.

Apprenticed to Peggy Angus in the 1970s, her working methods have been the foundation of his practice. The process is low tech and Dunford Wood believes it is the most simple and direct way of working. The wallpapers are informed by constant practising of observational drawing in sketchbooks, from intricate floral designs to flowing geometrics, printed in two colours. The hand printing process gives the wallpapers a rich surface, making them a unique complement to furniture and paintings.
