CAA Update – May 2020
A message from our Chair
I am writing on behalf of the trustees to update you about what has been happening at CAA since the staff were furloughed and the gallery was closed on 18 March. There is no doubt that these are hugely challenging times for all small businesses and charities and CAA is not alone in suffering an immediate and catastrophic decline in sales as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At CAA, however, we have been working hard behind the scenes to find a way through this crisis and secure the future for CAA. In the last few weeks, we have applied for several emergency COVID-19 government grants and reduced our running costs as much as possible. While we wait to hear if we have been successful with these applications, we have managed to keep our online shop open for business and continue to be active on social media to maintain CAA’s profile and drive traffic to the website.
Please help us by visiting our online shop and buying some of our beautiful objects to support both our makers and our charity. We are adding new objects to the website every week so do please visit regularly to see what is new and share our posts on social media.
CAA is a unique organisation with a vital part to play in the creative life of the UK. We have over 300 of the finest makers in the country, a top class gallery space in one of the best retail locations in London, and a track record of supporting and promoting the crafts that stretches back over 70 years. If you can, please support us by making a donation via our JustGiving page which can be accessed here.
Both the trustees and the staff thank you for your long-standing interest and continuing engagement with CAA.
Chair of trustees, CAA
