Rebecca de Quin
Rebecca de Quin is a silversmith and fine metalworker. Straddling the boundary between functional hollowware, decorative object and sculpture, her interest is rooted in the traditions of metalwork practice and, as such, centres around exploration of the vessel. Her pieces combine silver with non-precious metals, highlighting the preciousness, value and uniqueness of silver as a noble metal. De Quin’s methods involve play within the formal constructs of shape, form, proportion and scale, emphasizing similarities and contrasts between positive and negative space, lightness and darkness, reflective and matt surfaces and hammered and polished finishes.
