Kate Maestri is an artist specialising in – and best known for – large scale, architectural, public art. She creates site-specific stained-glass installations, working in close collaboration with architects, clients and engineers. Maestri’s artworks are fully integrated and work in harmony with the architecture. Her work is informed by the shapes and patterns created by the building, alongside research into the history and future use of the site. Maestri also works to commission through CAA for domestic projects and smaller scale ‘colour studies’. In particular, her work explores the use of structural and three-dimensional glass to create an environment experienced as colour, light and form, shaped by the artist.
