Felicity Aylieff
Given the opportunity to work on a large scale in Jingdezhen, the renowned ‘city of porcelain’ in China, Felicity Aylieff adopted two ways of working, drawing being the most important aspect of each method. The first centred on hand-drawn, detailed patterns which covered the surface of her huge fencai vessels. The second was a freer, more expressive and intuitive use of brushed-cobalt painting on blue and white pots. These approaches link her to ceramic traditions in both China and Europe.
