Annie Sherburne

A pioneer in felt making in the 1980s, Annie Sherburne is a devotee of the slow movement. She believes in making objects that take patience and time to create, seeing this as an act of rebellion against the financial imperative of mass production. Her new beaded headpieces take over 150 hours to make. Making these is painstaking work, born of the pure necessity of choosing and threading, bead by bead, drawing out the long thread, creating the even tension, orchestrating the slow growth of pattern and colour over long hours.
