Ali Stringell

Ali trained as a set and costume designer, graduating from the Slade School of Fine Art and spent many rewarding and exhilarating times working in theatre, opera, ballet and television.

As a designer/maker she has turned her interest in the magic of the theatre, into working with precious metals. This has continually formed the thread of her design ideas.

Ali is inspired by the simplicity of shape and reflective light, creating encapsulated raw brushed and unpolished ‘vessel’ forms. With fleeting references to nature, each piece is spontaneous; sympathetically composed; characterised with a sensibility towards the drawn line and explores the ethereal qualities of the material used.  The marriage of silver and fragile elements, accents of paper, feathers and knitted silver/gold wire strands, transform into unique sculptural pieces.
