Adi Toch
My work invites the observer to touch, play and discover hidden spaces and unexpected motion. I am driven by the desire to create evocative interactive objects which fulfil their potential whilst being handled.
My research involves the morphological qualities of vessels and the process of embedding functional objects with spirit. I am fascinated by the tension between symmetrical and irregular forms and use traditional silversmithing techniques to create curious objects which raise questions of containment.
The recent Tactile Series is especially designed to contain substances which attract attention through their sensory qualities but cannot be retrieved. Handling the vessels triggers the senses by their smooth surface as well as by the sound and fluidity of the particles held inside.
