Lisa Vaughan Thomas

Drawing and collecting has always been an integral part of Lisa Vaughan Thomasís works. She looks at the balance of nature and landscapes, recording observations in drawing and stitch, images and text and applying this to a collected mix of fabrics.

Working on a small scale has previously enabled her to work straight onto fabrics. Her recent challenge has been drawing in stitch on a larger scale. The practical considerations of this includes the more physical manipulation of a large quantity of fabric. Often, the stitched line disappears from view, the lines and images need to be planned before stitching and the making process has become more labour-intensive and thought-provoking.
