Clare Wilson is a glass maker/designer based in Hampshire. During a rigorous training program in Australia she was able to build upon and hone her glass blowing skills through a program focusing on design, prototyping, and production. Wilson places a great deal of importance on her continuing technical skill development and, as such, frequently travels to work with skilled makers across the world. Her practice is currently split between producing unique works for exhibition and creating commissioned work for both individuals and businesses.
Wilson works primarily with cane and murrine techniques, making functional art objects. Her muted pallette heightens her signature frenetic patterning. She is drawn to glass and working with cane in particular because of the technical challenges involved and the infinite possibilities available in the application of the technique. Her long commitment to this material and its processes results in a skilled and sensitive body of work that continues to evolve.
