After a career in textiles and illustration, Vicky Lindo turned to ceramics and now produces decorative earthenware at the Pigeon Club Pottery in Bideford, which she set up in 2013. Inspired by the naÔve style of North Devon Slipware from the 18th and 19th centuries, where animals and quotes sit alongside patterns and textures, Lindo began to create her own ceramics.
Her work is not only inspired by Bidefordís slipware pottery heritage, but also the more insignificant and mundane occurrences the town and its inhabitants present to her. A funny story heard on the radio, heroic animals, a pattern on an antique rug, or a beautiful old tree in the local park, all find their place, in some way, in her work.
Since 2013, Lindo has exhibited across the UK and has sent pots, plates and cats to customers around the world.
