Louise Renae Anderson
Louise Renae Andersonís passion for cloth originated from her study of Fashion Design, learning to understand structure, texture, colour and how to cut, drape and sew cloth with skill. This love of material lead her to study hand woven textiles. Her work is inspired by natural materials and most importantly by the process of making and quality craftsmanship.
Anderson designs and makes one-off handcrafted textile pieces. Working mainly within her weave specialism she uses processes and techniques involving traditional methods of dyeing and weaving and natural materials combined with a contemporary approach to design. Her subtle aesthetic is explored through mark making, the breakdown of regular pattern into irregularity, and the beauty of imperfection to create calm contemplative pieces. The works vary from calming, contemplative visual artworks to functional, beautifully tactile fashion pieces.
