Vicky Shaw

For Vicky Shaw the process of drawing through printmaking has become a tool through which ideas and form flow. Vicky draws inspiration from the world that surrounds her; this comprises of objects and forms subjectively chosen for their aesthetic qualities which come together to form an eclectic mix, often having a reference to the domestic and the everyday. These subjects of interest indirectly inform her work along with a fascination for the “bowl”, which is a reoccurring theme.

Often the starting point is a visual playfulness, a love of line, colour and the subtle differences of stripes, dots and repeat patterns, which in their turn are abstracted into drawings and ceramic forms.
