Sue Paraskeva is a British artist based on the Isle of Wight. Known for her elegant porcelain tableware, an accomplished throwing of fine porcelain vessels underpins her practice which is held in both public and private collections.
For her current and developing body of work, Paraskeva has drawn directly from recent personal experiences. The work is conceptual; groupings of dramatically altered porcelain vessels. The near destruction of the porcelain represents our own torn and smashed edges. A recent piece, ‘Broken’ is made up of over 60 pieces, each individual piece was thrown, with the weight equal to that of a human heart and lungs. Paraskeva has integrated performative work as a further exploration of this theme.
