Sara Keith
This work is inspired by the visual ways in which people demonstrate their hopes and dreams for the future, in particular tied prayer papers and wind horses. By using my own abstract language, I hope to express hidden desires regarding family, partnership and career.
Shibori, a traditional Japanese shaped resist dye technique, creates layers of marks, revealing the unique hand of the maker. By using a combination of jewellery techniques with Shibori I can totally or partially conceal the textile below. Detail is created by stitch marks, highlighted by rubbing back the silver surface and dyeing with natural dye.
