A considered combination of techniques to produce clean and precise forms
Initial research into traditional prints led to digital development of the patterns. A unit is designed and repeated to evoke a nostalgic recognition in the viewer. Photo-etching is used, which allows the application of imagery to the surface of metal, and this has opened many new directions in the work. These patterned surfaces become the interior of the silver bowls
Work focuses on the literal combination of ‘form and decoration’ and the fusion of ‘past and present’. The bold traditional decoration is complemented with pure modern forms. A spinning process is used to create the forms, which allows clean and precise forms to be produced. Using these techniques and principles, the work ranges dramatically in scale from small bowls to large centre-pieces.
