My main sources of inspiration come from working with traditional ‘crafted’ techniques. Cut glass as a decorative technique is deeply rooted in glass making heritage but suffers from being stigmatised as old fashioned and out dated. With the ‘cut pendant’ range I wanted to re-introduce the materials natural fluidity, once the work had been cut. Therefore by combining hand made traditions with modern design principles the work is loaded with historical associations whilst also being able to challenge material pre-conceptions.
