Chelsea Fringe:

CAA Loves Flowers

17.05.14 - 08.06.14

Contemporary Applied Arts is delighted to participate in Chelsea Fringe 2014.

Our small, spontaneous display in Southwark Street is simply intended to bring life, flowers, foliage and a riot of colour to this very urban streetscape.

Inside, we have given priority to the works in the gallery which have a floral or natural theme. Look carefully and you may be surprised to see how often nature inspires the form, materials and/or decoration of objects - both functional and decorative.

Kristina Kitchener and Janice Tchalenko create work fro Chelsea Fringe

Special thanks to maker members: Janice Tchalenko, ceramicist, for the joyful decoration of the pots flanking the entrance & Kristina Kitchener, jeweller, for her recycled material floral decorations around the door.

And: The Geffrye, Museum of the Home for the loan of the plants used in our display. All of these were raised in their period gardens in Kingsland Road, Hackney.

In its third year, this Festival was conceived as a ‘fringe’ to the celebrated RHS Chelsea Flower Show held each May. Chelsea Fringe is now increasingly seen as a catalyst for many of the new and unexpected gardening initiatives which are blooming across London.
