Sarah Wiberley

Sarah graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Ceramics and Glass in 2011. She has worked for many glass makers over the last 10 years and has exhibited her work in Europe as well as in the UK.

‘Cameo Series’ was inspired by investigating the ornament & traditions of English 19th century cameo glass. The imagery follows the familiar motif of the bird as it escapes from its 19th century scenery and explores new surroundings. The decorative floral motifs, inspired by original cameo designs, have been infiltrated by modern imagery.

‘Wallpaper Series’, inspired by trends in interior decoration, uses a playful approach to print techniques. By using simple image making processes, enamel transfers and paper-cutting, the methods themselves begin to develop an original aesthetic.”

It is by bringing contemporary style to the traditions of glassblowing that Sarah introduces a fresh approach to ornament with her hand-made glass vessels.
