Asta Barrington

Asta Barrington creates embroidered scarves, shawls, throws and cushions. She works with luxurious natural fibres such as cashmere, lambs wool and silk, which are combined to create subtle, soft and tactile accessories. These are machine embroidered and then washed and dyed afterwards so that the different fibres in a piece take on varying tones of the same colour. Asta constantly experiments with these techniques to create unusual tactile combinations which vary from rippled silk / lambs wool scarves which are lightweight yet insulating, lacy cashmere / nylon net effects, to the felted fancy fringes that have become her trademark. Colour is very important to Asta and, because she is completely in control of the dyeing process, her colour range is vast.
