Jane Cox

I design and make functional and decorative ceramics which, whilst conceived singly, work well as sets both on display and in use.

Kandinsky referred to “colour as the keyboard” and for me colour plays a central role in all my work both in the vibrant pattern ranges of “Aquitaine” Turquoise and “Loire” green as well as in the subtler ones.

The endless variation of contrasting earthenware glaze effects have become a passion fro me and I love experimenting with these.

Silk screen printing and painting both play significant roles in my work and recently I have been developing the more painterly aspects of individual pieces.

My work features in the British Crafts Council Collection and the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge and has received many favourable reviews notably Patricia Morrison in The Guardian who referred to me as “one of the top ten collectable potters working in the UK”.
