Peter Musson
I make silverware by openly combining the freedom of making by hand with more controlled computer techniques. I embrace the unique decorative qualities
of both methods, leaving traces of the different processes visible. The engineered quality of the machine-cut mark is offset by subtle variations in the hand fabricated form, which moves the eye of the viewer around the form as the light catches the different surfaces. I want the works to convey a sense of depth and solidity through internal volumes, which are only apparent on close viewing. These internal spaces have a more organic, flowing quality than the structured, exterior spaces.
