Max Warren
My work is concerned with perception; visual and cultural. I am interested in the
space between the object and our perception of it: the gaps in our perception
and how we fill them. In part, works aim to reconcile my respect for the skill and
traditions of silver with its apparent displacement in contemporary society. Drawing is central. The reduction of an image to a line echoes a digital aesthetic. The drawn line is expanded three-dimensionally creating a reversal of traditional perspective: a two-dimensional surface is represented as a three-dimensional object.
