Grant McCaig
I see all my works as a visual document of the journey through making, a balance of making and observing. This has become essential practice for me and as such is integral to the evolution of the piece. Forms themselves tend to be fairly simple, echoing familiar domestic objects, often contrasting silver with found or recycled wood. The ridged tumblers have evolved from a fascination with a simple process of folding metal repeatedly which creates both visual rhythm and structural strength to finished works.
