Alistair McCallum

Alistair has practiced the Japanese metalworking technique of Mokume Gane (wood grain metal) for over 30 years. During this period he has developed and explored different ways of producing pattern, it is this that distinguishes Alistair work from other practitioners. Due to the highly decorative surface pattern produced using this technique Alistair strongly believes that it is best used on simple forms where the relationship of pattern and forms are in harmony. This element of balance is some thing he became aware of when visiting Japan.
