Dawn Dupree

The domestic objects in my landscapes pose questions, have relationships and express gestures.
Through a complete layering of textured print & stencils both crude
and delicate I aim to present a rich saturated surface where
images vie for attention reflecting confusion of overlapping of
gender & roles in modern society.
My work explores narratives in an urban context. Inspired by a constant state of transition in a city where construction / deconstruction oddly juxtapose, momentary glimpses of scene are observed, two planes often collide, vying for our attention.
I construct new landscapes from images of found, recorded and imagined places, producing distorted, sometimes ambiguous and potentially unsettling results. Abandoned domestic objects, industrial structures ad derelict buildings act as clues, trigger memory, allude to mystery or fantasy, or express gestured qualities.
