Bruno Romanelli

My current works do not fall easily into any particular category or genre of work, though they might best be described as abstract/sculptural vessels. I use the vessel as a way to enter the work, a starting point if you like, but the vessel also acts as a metaphor for the container of ideas. They begin life from the most fundamental shape, the circle, and are grown from this into complex assemblies of cylinders and cones. Every form is derived from the circle, and it’s this simplicity in essence that allows the complexity of design without making the piece too complicated visually. Each piece is an exploration of the relationships between form, colour and material. I’m interested in surface, body, volume and space and how all the individual elements work within the piece and as a whole in the space it occupies. I am seeking the perfect combination of these elements to create a harmony in my work that resonates with energy.
