Christopher Shaw
Having been taught and worked in very traditional methods, I see myself as a craftsman who occasionally creates designs on books, rather than a designer who binds books to express themselves. I tend to use gold as my first choice of decoration, as I feel the play of light on the gold gives the design movement and depth, but aim to use it in a non traditional way i.e. solid blocks. I want my designs to have balance, a sense of place on the book and relate to the text.
