Rigorous colour testing to achieve subtle ranges in hue

From plaster models, moulds are made which are used to cast white earthenware slip.  Much time is then spent on the glazes, by conducting lots of colour tests to select the desired hues.  On average, for any one piece of work, 30 to 40 tests are conducted from which only 10 to 15 will be used.  Glazes are applied by either dipping the ceramic pieces or spraying.

The work draws from a mix of cultural experiences, east meeting west imbuing eastern eroticism and sensuality within iconography.  The work is about tactility and touch.  It can also be considered as an image or composition, like a three-dimensional painting.
