Sally Greaves-Lord

A host of large, abstract silk banners have been made by Sally Greaves-Lord -painted, printed and discharged-since she graduated from the Royal College of Art. She has also gained a reputation for large-scale, painted interior schemes. Recently, she designed gun-tufted wool rugs for an exhibition at Belsay Hall, Northumberland; these were made by Edinburgh Tapestry Company. For the current exhibition she focuses on an imagined private office, a room conceived as intimate and used, perhaps at night; it calls for a combination of bright and dark colours. Greaves-Lordís wool rug is warm in tone and comfortable underfoot and her silk hangings should be considered at close quarters.
