Rupert Williamson

Rupert Williamsonís approach to furniture design is one of the problem-solving within the constraints of a client brief. He uses wood exclusively, exploiting its combined properties: colour, strength and texture. Williamson has made a number of boardroom tables, desks and chairs in the past but the majority of his furniture is for private houses, where it is possible to develop a more individual approach. Organic, symmetrical forms have become part of his work, which is increasingly abstract.
The table and chair in his exhibition have been designed around his own needs: a place to design and write letters.
