Richard Slee

Richard Slee uses glaze to entice and reassure his audience like the pristine gift-wrapping of a high street confectioner. In the latest work he sets discarded ceramic trinkets in idyllic landscapes of sugary innocence. With his mock-industrial ceramic scenes, Slee transports us to the ‘Little England’ of the drawing room mantelpiece where he succeeds in charming and challenging us with his own brand of familiarity and wit.
