CAA in Education 2005
Education work accomplished by CAA in 2005.
The decision was made to focus predominantly on gallery based activities rather than on outreach work.
To coincide with the Rupert Spira Exhibition, a special session was organised for the Friends of CAA. This was led by Professor Emmanuel Cooper. The Friends were able to handle Rupertís work and to have an informal talk and question and answer session with Emmanuel.
We made contact with Course Directors and teaching staff of the main London colleges for ceramics. We established that they are interested in taking part in Education events at the gallery and are particularly interested in professional practice sessions and exhibition based sessions. The possibility was also discussed of building partnerships with specific colleges and of taking education events to them. We ran some education sessions at the gallery for groups of students from Central St. Martinís College during the Rupert Spira exhibition.
North West Kent College, Dartford, made contact with CAA asking for CAA Members to give lectures and run workshops for their students. Ran by Sara Robertson, this project involved the students designing an exhibition for a virtual space based on CAAís gallery. We worked with NW Kent College to post a virtual exhibition of the studentís work from this project on CAAís website. Student work was displayed in the gallery during August 2006 (pictures!)
A range of gallery talks and seminars took place in conjunction with each exhibition involving Member artists and external professionals
